Quality British Suiting Cloth

Alfred Brown was founded in 1915 as "Brown & Sons" by Herbert Brown, an entrepreneur and businessman who also found time to serve his community as Deputy Lord Mayor of Leeds. During the Great Depression era of the 1920's - 1930's, Herbert asked his son, Alfred to take over the business. By 1954 the company rebranded as Alfred Brown, and today the company is run by Alfred's sons, Ian and Nigel Brown. It is a true family business, and the next generation are already learning the business.

Today, Alfred Brown produces fabric for major retailers worldwide - British brands include Marks and Spencer and Next on the high street, and even elicited a visit from Her Royal Highness Princess Anne following the 100 year anniversary of the business.

For Grimm International, being entrusted with the Alfred Brown brand is a big responsibility, and to this end we work closely with the mill via our UK office. With an initial production order of 12,500m form the Empire Mill where Alfred Brown meticulously crafts quality fabrics, the partnership has started on strong foundations.

For tailors, Grimm will offer both a Silver book featuring evergreen patterns featuring a "Made in England" selvedge, and Bronze book designed for manufacturing clients. Thanks to Alfred Brown's ability to meet major manufacturing volumes, Grimm International is confident that the Korean market will be a vibrant customer for this excellent British fabric.
